Future Society Hub — University of St.Gallen
where tech and society fuse
A cross-disciplinary hub fusing technology, law, and society — from scientific insight to real-world impact.
About
FuSo is a hub and point of contact that addresses the opportunities and risks of technology from start to end, grounded on the newest scientific insights.
Based at University of St.Gallen, we link expertise from the School of Computer Science and School of Law to deliver evidence-informed, full-stack solutions for academics, public administrations, NGOs, and industry.
Where other hubs stop at research, FuSo accompanies stakeholders across the entire journey — ideating, co-creating, mitigating risks, implementing, and evaluating in the real world.

Participate
FuSo is built on collaboration and engagement. We foster internal cohesion through bi-weekly topic lunches, speed dating events where researchers can connect across disciplines, and yearly retreats that bring our community together. Beyond our core team, we actively communicate our work through newsletters, policy briefs, and podcasts to reach a broader audience.
We are committed to bringing in diverse perspectives and talent. We offer fellowships and support for thesis work that aligns with our research focus. We also organize working groups on specific topics such as platform auditing and decentralization, where researchers can dive deep into emerging challenges.
Beyond FuSo, we collaborate with other institutions to co-create events that matter — from exploring privacy-invasive spaces to hosting roundtable discussions with politicians on critical issues like AI regulation. We support social entrepreneurship and startup initiatives, partnering with platforms like Startfeld to turn ideas into impact.
We also offer a joint course in Contextual Studies, designed to ground technical and legal research in the broader social context.
Whether you are a researcher, student, policymaker, or simply passionate about technology and society, we invite you to join our activities and become part of the FuSo community. Reach out to us to learn more about how you can participate.
